The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Teaser Arrives, Introducing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a special Nintendo Direct that centered on the upcoming animated film.
The follow-up to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will send Mario to the outer limits of the cosmos. There, he will encounter a different royal figure and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Iconic Releases
Much like the Wii console classics that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. On his epic voyage, he will encounter once more some recognizable characters, such as the Luma, a popular character from the first movie.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who reportedly commands metallic abilities. Worth mentioning, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Returns and Expands
The film will welcome back of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. It was announced by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
A Significant Period for Mario
The upcoming Mario film is planned to debut near the four-decade milestone of the original Super Mario Bros. game. In addition to the movie, 2026 promises to be a important time for Mario and his allies.
The company has a set of three fresh titles already confirmed for 2026, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
