Springfield's Favorite Family Makes Its Debut in Psyonix's Hit Game: Unfortunately Not the Vehicle Fans Are Hoping For

We already knew that The Simpsons was collaborating with Fortnite, but this isn't the sole destination where fans can immerse themselves in the universe of Springfield. The long-running series is coming over to Rocket League, bringing along an vehicle customization option that will also be usable in the Fortnite universe. That said, if gamers will truly desire to use it is another question, as fans have their hearts set on just one Simpsons vehicle everyone is itching to get behind the wheel of, and this new offering isn't that one.

What Fans Really Want

While many players would absolutely enjoy to compete behind the wheel of Homer's custom creation—the famously flawed automobile the patriarch designed personally in the classic installment "the one where he meets Herb"—that's not what's being offered. We aren't even getting the massive SUV, the heavy-duty truck featured in the tenth season. Instead, players will obtain the Simpsons' everyday well-worn sedan, which they've been driving since the show's early days. Even though this specific vehicle has seen better days, it stands as an iconic element of the series. For those who analyze Rocket League vehicle dimensions, the trusty sedan uses the same hitbox as the Dominus body type.

Additional Themed Cosmetics

But that's not the sole cosmetic from the series arriving in the game. The event will also include a set of objectives to unlock more goodies, all of which are inspired by the show. As detailed in a press release, the challenges will task participants to "get as many centers and clears as there are The Simpsons years on air, collect boost pickups as if your GPS is set to The Simpsons’ residence, and drive a distance sufficient for acquiring the ideal pastries!"

Although the full lineup of challenge rewards hasn't been revealed, here is what's been announced up to this point:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

If the key art is any indication, it seems fans will also receive rims with a television displaying the show's title sequence, Kang and Kodos topper, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and boost effects inspired by burning tires and Krusty's famous restaurant.

Launch Dates and Crossover Details

The Rocket League collaboration lines up with the extensive The Simpsons invasion of Fortnite's island, which includes a completely new map of the fictional town, as well as a month-long Battle Pass. The Rocket League x The Simpsons event launches on Saturday, Nov. 1 and ends on November 17th.
