Authorities in the US have revealed that decomposing remains found in a vehicle registered to artist D4vd belong to a previously disappeared teenage girl.

Police personnel discovered the body of Celeste Rivas inside the trunk of an seized Tesla on 8 September, after responding to complaints of a foul odor at a Hollywood impound lot.

Authorities indicated that both the manner and date of her demise remain unknown.

Rivas, from Lake Elsinore in California, was 13 at the moment of her vanishing and was spotted on 5 April 2024, as stated in a missing person alert.

Previously, officers mentioned that the Tesla had likely been at the impound facility for "a couple of days" before the finding.

The car, which has a Texas registration, was removed from the Hills area after being left five days prior.

The car is under the name of 20-year-old David Anthony Burke, the legal name of recording artist D4vd.

Last week, the coroner's office stated that the person whose body were found was 157cm tall, had curly black hair, and was clad in a tube top and black pants.

It was noted that the remains had a tattoo on the right index finger that read: "Shhh."

The body were not complete, and it appeared the teen had been deceased for an extended duration of time, per police sources.

D4vd, who has millions of followers on online platforms, is most famous for his popular songs "Here With Me" and "Romantic Homicide".

He launched his debut album in April and was touring when the body were discovered in the Tesla. The tour's planned show in Seattle on Wednesday was cancelled.

Authorities say that D4vd is co-operating with the inquiry.
