I can't bank on three full seasons at United - Ruben Amorim

the United manager

The Manchester United coach - here being consoled after May's continental cup disappointment - says he is pleased by the investor's extended support but stressed that the future is unpredictable in soccer.

The Red Devils' boss Ruben Amorim thinks it is important Sir Jim Ratcliffe openly discussed his future vision - but notes nothing is assured about the future in the sport, let alone three years.

Through a conversation with a major publication last week, Sir Jim stated it might require Amorim a three-year period to produce meaningful results at Old Trafford.

Arriving during a time when the manager's position has been facing examination following an extended sequence of disappointing results, the statements assisted in calming a portion of the current stress.

However, talking ahead of the centenary clash with old rivals the Merseyside club at the famous stadium, the manager emphasized how the future is hard to predict in the beautiful game.

"It is really good to listen to that but he tells me continuously, periodically with words post fixtures - but recognize, I realize and the co-owner recognizes, that soccer doesn't work that way," he stated.

"The most important thing is the upcoming match. Despite having backers, you cannot control the future in the sport."

CEO the club executive has acknowledged it has needed far longer for the head coach to adjust to the top division following his move from his former club during the winter than any person expected.

United have won 10 times in 34 top-flight fixtures during Amorim's tenure. They still haven't achieved back-to-back league wins and didn't complete a round of league games in the current term above ninth position.

The concerning numbers are stretching belief in the manager among the United fanbase heading into a run of games the side has performed poorly in for the last couple of years.

The manager stated he doesn't sense the instability internally at their training facility and is adamant nothing equals the expectation he places on the team - and to some extent, he would rather the co-owner not to be trying to create tranquility because he worries the influence it may create on the squad.

"It isn't merely an item of conversation, I sense it every day," he stated. "It's truly positive to hear it because it helps our fans to comprehend the leadership understand it will require a period.

"However simultaneously, I'm not fond of it because it gives a feeling that we have time to solve problems. I don't wish for that sense in our club.

"The pressure I place on the team or upon myself is considerably larger [versus outside influences]. In soccer, particularly at major teams, you must demonstrate your value every weekend."
